Celebrities, whether movie/rock stars or athletes, have always been popular barometers of social consciousness. We admire what they have achieved in their respective fields. So, it's always an inspiration when we hear about Madonna adopting a Malawi child or Angelina Jolie doing humanitarian work for UN. Do we not all want to look as healthy and presentable like those charming celebrities? A major responsibility in achieving this ‘look’ is through following a proper diet plan. After all, most people readily equate good health with a svelte body or supple skin.

Here are some of the trendy celebrity diets that you may have encountered while perusing your favorite celebrity magazine:

Caveman Diet

No, this is not what you think it is. This diet is based on a book called Neanderthin and what English supermodel Liz Hurley has been doing since giving birth to her first born. Basically, it tells us to eat only one meal in a day like what the Neanderthals did centuries ago. The modern diet of three meals a day is scrapped because it allegedly packs in the pounds. Consume only one single well-balanced meal of protein, carbohydrates and veggies. There's a warning though: this diet may cause caveman-like behavior in some people. The last one is of course a joke.

Facial Analysis Diet

We loved Kate Winslet in Titanic. That voluptuous body was a fresh change to anorexic beauties we usually see on the silver screen. But do you know that she has always been uncomfortable with the way her body fluctuates from thin to tubby? So she consulted a facial analyst. What on earth could that be? We've heard of analyzing the eyes to detect diseases but analyzing the face for diet? Well, this facial analysis strives to detect nutritional deficiencies by looking at the face. Then a nutritionist creates a diet plan based on the food intolerances found in the texture of your skin, eyes and hair.

Coconut Oil Diet

Have you heard of Virgin Coconut Oil. Jennifer Aniston, was rumored to have tried this to keep her body fit. The idea is to increase the amounts of right kinds of fats like coconut oil to shed unwanted fats. Virgin coconut oil contains saturated fats that supposedly help the body metabolize faster. Dieters can also use this kind of oil to cook foods with instead of the regular cooking oil. But doctors warn that a diet high in fat can lead to a bad heart condition.

Raw Food Diet

You guessed it right! No cooking, no fuss...just pick `em out and pop `em in! Demi Moore and Uma Thurman have done it. Why can't you? Raw food retains the necessary enzymes our body needs to boost energy and speed up metabolism. Cooking robs them of these nature's gems. So eat fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, seaweed and even raw meat. I guess this kid of diet has its merits. The Japanese people are known for consuming almost everything in its raw form and they have one of the longest life spans in the world.

Blood-Type Diet

The premise and promise of this diet regimen is that if you eat foods that are specifically-designed for your blood group, you lose weight safely and healthily. Again, this comes from a book called “Eat Right for Your Blood Type”, which if you ask me, sounds more like a manual for blood-thirsty vampires. The book states that type O people should be meat-eaters, A-types should consume veggies, while Bs and Abs can practically eat anything with certain restrictions.

The Da-Vinci Diet

You did not read it wrong. It is indeed named after Leonardo da Vinci because the diet is created with one thing in mind, the mathematical value of Phi. The proponent of this diet claims that since Phi is a perfect value present in all of nature and that human beings are part of nature, what we put in our body should also be in harmony with this mathematical value. Seems perfectly logical, isn't it. On a serious note, the diet follows the Mediterranean fashion that includes lots of bread, fish, cheese, veggies, meat and wine. Tastes like Italian to me!

In the end, one thing is clear, follow the diet that your body (and your pocket) is comfortable with. Unless you have the money to spend sculpting the dream body you've always wanted, you're safe with something less expensive and realistic.
