Flattering Swimwear - Experts Help Women To Find Flattering Swimwear
May 15, 2008
Where swimsuit shopping once struck fear in the hearts of women everywhere, it seems times — and confidence levels — have changed to the point where Canadians are willing to welcome an audience into the fitting room.
Nationwide swimwear clinics being rolled out this week by The Bay are opening up this previously private experience to expert eyes in order to help women understand what does — and what definitely does not — flatter their figures.
In plenty of time for the Memorial Day launch of the summer carousing season, Venus Swimwear is having a blowout sale on some of the season’s most eye catching beach styles. Bikinis, tankinis, one piece, and tonga (thong) styles can be had at fabulous prices that will make both you and your wallet smile.
“Instead of being afraid to buy a suit and running away from it, they actually walk out with something they love,” says McAdam, divisional vice-president of Christina America swimwear.
The centrepiece of the clinics will be a discussion of “problem areas” as well as a complete body measurement — much like an episode of What Not To Wear, only with more Spandex.
“You have to start on the right track,” says McAdam. “She’ll say she’s a size 12 but gets measured and turns out to be a 14 - which always happens, by the way.”
Although younger, petite Canadians who opt for bikinis make few mistakes, McAdam estimates the average woman — whom she defines as being over 25 and larger than a size eight — is as likely to buy an ill-fitting suit as she is to wear a bad bra
